SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

The Continuous Improvement Director provides strategic leadership in all aspects of creating and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement throughout the value chain. The individual will transform our business and manufacturing processes to better meet the needs of our customers and enable growth as a key member of the Operations Leadership Team. The Continuous Improvement Director will be accountable and responsible for strategic planning of continuous improvement, identification of opportunities and initiatives, ensuring proper project selection and resourcing, developing employees in the use of tools and techniques and achieving results in alignment with business objectives.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

This position is under the direct supervision of the Corporate Vice President, Global Operations & Supply Chain.

SUPERVISION EXCERCISED

This position directly manages the corporate Continuous Improvement Manager and indirectly manages the site continuous improvement leaders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

  • Provides strategic leadership for defining and executing business vision, objectives, strategies and metrics (KPI).

  • Leads and manages Continuous Improvement Leaders.

  • Serves as a key leader within Global Operations (GOPs); Participates in strategic and tactical planning & execution to ensure GOPs objectives are met. Ensures alignment of projects to strategic directives of GOPs and continuous improvement targets.

  • Engages cross functionally to drive and enable change that maximizes value creation at the enterprise level.

  • Leads project teams on initiatives that reduce costs, improve cycle times, reduce defects, eliminating variation and improve material flows.

  • Leads the implementation of Continuous Improvement while building a network of Continuous Improvement experts. Leadership includes having direct and accountable responsibilities for the success of the program, direct and indirect reporting resources, and financial commitments and results reporting.

  • Leads and coordinates the deployment of Continuous Improvement initiatives.

  • Provides leadership to the development and execution of Lean Daily Management.

  • Serves as a partner and coach to senior and site leadership to identify and prioritize projects and initiatives.

  • Provides direction, resources, and technical leadership to coach Integra staff, Lean Leaders, Green Belt and Black Belt candidates in Lean Six Sigma concepts

  • Responsible for overseeing the delivery of continuous improvement performance targets.

  • Facilitates continuous improvement events such as WorkOuts, Kaizen events and workshops.

  • Supports broader organization in understanding and use of Continuous Improvement.

  • Performs any other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

The requirements listed below are representative and critical of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability essential for this position:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Engineering or Business, Master’s Degree preferred

  • Certifications: Master Black Belt and Lean Certification required

  • Experience:

  • 10-15 years of experience in a continuous improvement, operations and/or supply chain leadership role.

  • Subject Matter Expert in Lean Six Sigma and various continuous improvement techniques (i.e. WorkOut, Kaizen, Lean Six Sigma Tools and Scoping Workshops) with applied experience in leading Lean Six Sigma projects and delivering results.

  • Expert in Applied Statistics; experience conducting statistical analysis of DOEs, validation studies and establishing statistical sampling plans for process controls.

  • Proven experience in product, process analysis and statistical techniques.

TRAVEL

Ability to travel 30% of the time, including international travel.
